A scholarship in your family or business name.

THE PROBLEM
With the cost of higher education and occupational training, scholarships can make the difference between preparing for a career with good earnings or taking jobs that can result in a lifetime of financial struggles.  The Shallow Ford Foundation has scholarships available, but each year the number of applicants exceed the resources available for deserving students.  We needed a solution!

THE SOLUTION
The Board of Directors established two new scholarship funds that will accept donations of any size.  All gifts will be combined to award scholarships in the spring following accumulated annual donations.  The number of scholarships available each year will be based on the contributions received in the year prior to the application deadline.

AWARDS OF UP TO $2,500 WILL BE MADE IN THESE TWO CATEGORIES:

High School Seniors
For high school seniors from West Forsyth, Reagan, North Davidson, Forbush, and Starmount High Schools pursuing a post-secondary degree or recognized credential.

Adult Students
For local adults from Forsyth, Yadkin, and North Davidson Counties returning to an accredited school or recognized credential-producing program.

Applicants to the foundation’s existing scholarship programs will also be eligible for a community scholarship award.  While these applicants are eligible for multiple scholarships, only one scholarship will be awarded per student.

DONATIONS & SCHOLARSHIP NAMING
Any sized gift to the fund is welcomed.  Scholarships may be named by a donor with a minimum gift of $1,000.  Donors who make a gift of more than $1,000 and less than $2,000 will share a name on a scholarship.  Donors who gift $2,000 or more may exclusively name a scholarship.  Named scholarships will be awarded in the year following the gift.

CAN I PARTICIPATE IN THE INTERVIEWS?
Yes!  If you choose, you can be a member of the scholarship interview team that selects the recipient.  The full team recommends the recipients to the Board of Directors, who makes the final selection.
